Escape The Heat at Yorke Peninsula
This weekend will be a warm one for Adelaide. A great weekend escape, or as we like to call it, a short break, will be refreshing, relaxing or adventurous on the Yorke Peninsula. Loaded with luxurious cabins at the Point Turton Caravan Park to free camping that can be found through various camping apps, this is a cool time waiting to happen.
Generally speaking, the Yorke does experience some very nice breezes. Point Turton is a couple of degrees warmer than Edithburgh, which is sitting in the high 20s whilst Edithburgh is in the mid 20s.
Planning Your Trip
With a variety of pubs, cafes, restaurants or outdoor activities, including fishing and hiking, having a plan if it’s rest and relaxation or fresh air and activities will make for an enjoyable weekend. A quick look at the official website for Yorke gives a general overview of what is available.
Getting There
Most people drive there through Port Wakefield, getting there on a Friday. It is very busy and sometimes has a couple of slow times due to people leaving the city, with some towing larger boats and caravans. Allowing for these slow times will make your trip easier, on a personal note, I have frequently gotten stuck in traffic on the way on a Friday. Coming back isn’t usually as bad due to people having the leisure of time on a Sunday or Monday to get back to Adelaide.
